Apex VP Bill Kasdorf Receives BISG Distinguished Service Award

On September 23, 2016 the Book Industry Study Group (BISG) announced Bill Kasdorf, Apex Vice President and Principal Consultant, as a winner of the BISG Distinguished Service Award for his role as Chair of the Content Structure Committee.

This award was given to BISG Committee and Working Group Chairs to honor their tireless efforts to establish standards and best practices on behalf of BISG. A long-standing member of the organization, Bill received the honorary BISG Industry Champion Award in 2014 for his contributions and commitment to improving standards across publishing industries.

Bill’s entire career has been committed to developing and promoting interoperable standards for the publishing industry. A true visionary, Bill’s work has global influence through his participation in standards initiatives like the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF), W3C, International Press Telecommunications Council (IPTC0, EDUPUB Alliance, BISG, and more. He has led seminars, written articles, and spoken widely for publishing industry organizations such as SSP, O’Reilly TOC, NISO, BISG, IDPF, DBW, AAP, AAUP, ALPSP, STM, ALA, Publishing Business, Seybold Seminars, and the Library of Congress.

In his consulting role with Apex, Bill has served clients globally, including large international publishers such as Pearson, Cengage, Wolters Kluwer, and Sage; scholarly presses and societies such as Harvard, Cambridge, MIT, Toronto, Taylor & Francis, ASME, and IEEE; aggregators such as CourseSmart and netLibrary; and global publishing and library organizations such as the World Bank, the British Library, the Asian Development Bank, OCLC, and the European Union.
