Apex Joins Standards Organization Focused On Video, Photo Metadata
HERNDON, VA – June 23, 2014 – The International Press Telecommunications Council (IPTC) selected Apex CoVantage as a new member, Apex announced today. The global standards body for the news media maintains the universally accepted standard for photo metadata and is now actively defining a descriptive metadata structure for video content.
“The experience implementing the IPTC standards and creating contextual metadata that Apex brings to the IPTC will be invaluable as we work to further our mission of improving the management and exchange of information between content providers, intermediaries and consumers and enabling easy, cost-effective and rapid innovation,” says IPTC Managing Director Michael Steidl.
In addition to practical experience creating and enhancing photoa nd video asset metadata for media firms around the world, Apex brings to IPTC a wealth of experience in the standards world. Apex helped develop the EPUB 3 standard for books, the PSV PRISM Source Vocabulary for magazines, and the soon-to-be-published EDUPUB standard for educational content.
“We are pleased to continue our work shaping the future of digital content products with the IPTC,” says Kevin Burns, VP, Business Development for Apex Conent Solutions. “With the ever-increasing business value of photo and video content and the need for standardized contextual metadata, engaging with the IPTC is an absolute must in order to deliver the kind of value our clients expect from us.”
